Feet/Legs:
You who have carried me
Who are brave in what you have walked toward and away from
Who move
Who dance
Who travel
You who ground me exactly where I am
You who absorbs impact
Who continues on when continuing feels impossible
Thank you. I love you.
Belly/ groin/ lower back
You who rolls and tucks and squishes and jiggles
Unafraid of movement
Who sends my laugh forward
Who has learned to ask for pleasure
Home of my deepest knowing
Whose womb has nurtured beautiful things
Absorber of blows
Keeper of breath
You the fiercely tender
You the ever expanding
Thank you. I love you.
Hands-
You the ones who remember
Who have comforted and held
Who have sown and pruned
Who make and shape
You have learned what to hold loosely
Who have been brave enough to hang on
Who have been brave enough to let go
You who make good things
Thank you. I love you.
Chest/Heart Space
You who contains the tides of me
Who has pulled me towards calling and community
Who has opened over and over
You who braids life into my blood
Who continues to beat
Who aches and flutters and skips and quickens
Who loves with everything
You who has healed
You who is healing
Thank you. I love you.
Arms/Shoulders/Back
You who have lifted and mothered and tended
Oh, the weight you have carried
You who reaches over and over
Who hugs and holds and shields
Who raises fists to protest injustice
You, reparenting the youngest parts of us
Who have held so much
Who hold me
Thank you. I love you.
Mouth/Voice-
You whose tongue shapes syllables
Who has kissed
Who has tasted
You who gives voice and words
Who has whispered and shouted and cried out for justice
You who has learned to tell the truth
Thank you. I love you.
Brain/Mind/Consciousness-
You who writes stories to protect me
Who holds habits and memories
Who puzzles and ponders
You who are vast enough to hold logic and mystery
Who has only ever wanted to keep me safe
Thank you. I love you.
Skin-
You who I have picked and torn at
Who is marked and dimpled and so many different colors
You who senses
Who absorbs
Who feels
Who sends forth constellations of freckles and birthmarks
Whose hair does not need taming
You who has proven over and over that we contain multitudes
You who stretch to hold them
Thank you. I love you.
Body,
Sweet body
My body
In you I live and move and have my being
In you my soul touches the world around me
I do not curse your wanting
I do not wish you small
I see you and accept you
I bless your fire
I honor your longing
I call every part of you good
I call what comes from you good
You my first friend
You my first home
Thank you. I love you.
